Cockatoo Creek farm

Regenerative food producers

Fleurieu Peninsula

Regenerative agriculture & holistic management.

Hi. We are Bridgett and Chris Day of Cockatoo Creek farm.

We produce grass fed lamb, beef, cold pressed olive oil and mix variety garlic on our 80 acre farm in beautiful Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. .

We integrate a range of natural farming approaches, such as regenerative agriculture, holistic management and permaculture, and the addition of organic minerals, compost, and beneficial microbes. All work is done with care by us and our family and friends.

Our farm is located 4kms from the Fleurieu Coast and enjoys a moderate Mediterranean climate.  We have 750m of creek line meandering through the southern part of our property, and are regenerating this for wildlife and landscape function. We have four main soil types, ranging from sandy loam, to Biscay clay, allowing us to grow a variety of different pastures and tree species, from Quandongs to Avocados.

We graze ewes with lambs as well as cattle on our mixed-species pastures over the growing season, which we manage using regenerative farming practices of regular animal movement and maximum rest and recovery time. We have planted over 1000 mixed species trees in the last two years for biodiversity and shelter belts, and are in the process of regenerating our creek. Our established Olive Grove of 250 trees has three main olive varieties grown specifically for quality oil. Our small market garden grows mixed varieties of garlic. In time our farm enterprises will expand, for now this is keeping us nice and busy!

Our Story

With over 20 years’ experience in growing food and community food systems, we purchased our property in early 2018 with the intention to start our family farm using agroecological and regenerative farming approaches, and to sell our produce direct to local customers.

Early 2019 we were the grateful recipients of Willunga Farmers Market Scholarship, giving us a financial boost to get started as well as invaluable mentoring from well-seasoned local food producers and small business advisors.

We trade at the Willunga Farmers Market over spring and summer, with the market also being a collection point for our Community Supported Agriculture members.

Our Mission

We strive to produce nutrient dense and delicious food for our community while simultaneously building rich living soils and regenerating our farm ecosystems through our farming practices.

“We love the way food brings people together and sparks conversation, and how growing food enables us, through this one action, to contribute to both landscape regeneration and human health - to us being regenerative food producers is a culmination of our core values and life passions and we are happy to be walking this path”.
